D3 ESC F3A is a controller dedicated to F3A drives. There is a few firmware variants for most known F3A drives like Plettenberg, Hacker Q80, C50, C54, Adverrun, AXI and others. Most unique feature is governor with regenerative braking. It helps a lot with maintaining constant speed during sequences. ESC is 10 cells capable and tested up to 120A. Weight is 75 gram. There is no BEC just simple, small and light controller.

D3 ESC

This is a compact lightweight ESC with a massive braking function that appears to work across the Entire speed range governed by throttle stick position. Mine is used with the Akiba contra drive mounted in my Skyleaf Leader. The instructions call for the D3 to be mounted in direct airflow and there are many pictures available online which show various methods to achieve this. In the Leader I had to mount mine on the fuselage floor with the heat sink protruding through an aperture I d made. This works brilliantly and the D3 is very well cooled and has never shown any issues even in the 25 degrees ambient heat we ve had recently. The braking function completely dominates the speed control offered by the D3 to the extent that actual motor speed is completely controlled regardless of the model speed. This actually serves to strongly control model speed, which means instead of throttling back in a dive or the second part of a loop, you have to force yourself to keep the throttle open and rely on the D3 to prevent the model zooming. It s a real change to the conventional way of controlling model speed, and after some initial skepticism I m sold on it!
